How I feel on any given day, week or month often dictates how I show up in my business (and life!)
Is this true for you?
I know for many of my heart-centered entrepreneurs it is.
When our lives are going well, we put more of our energy, focus and creativity into our clients, marketing, content – you name it.
Yet when we hit bumps and challenges, our businesses tend to receive less and we pull back. I know this winter that has been true of me.
There’s a fine line between honoring what you feel and letting it get in the way of your mission in life.
After all, we WANT to touch as many lives as possible and make a BIG difference in the world – and yet our energy and focus can be inconsistent which means we don’t gain momentum in our business.
Well yesterday I had a big a-ha (or maybe a duh!)…
My happiness feels tied to whether my energy, family, marriage, business, money, health and friends are in a “good” place. When I’m unhappy about an aspect of my life or business, I do my best to fix it.
Yet isn’t something ALWAYS going on in life and biz?
For myself and those around me, that seems to be the case.
Just this past month, my family, friends and I have been sick, our water was off for a few days, my kids have been squabbling as a result of cabin fever… the list goes on.
So tying my happiness and how I feel to what’s happening around me is always going to be a roller coaster ride and my business is going to suffer.
The antidote?
Here’s what’s been working for me when I’m feeling low energy or navigating my personal life challenges:
- Making more time and space for stillness/meditation, nature, self-care. Doing more activities that are body-centered like dancing, yoga, hiking. When I’m sourcing from a deeper place and more in tune with my body, I have more insight, perspective and energy.
- Being gentle and having compassion for myself when I’m in a stuck or down space
- Recognizing that this is a phase that will pass
- Reaching out to trusted mentors and friends for support and perspective
- Prioritizing what MUST get done in my business and giving myself permission to move other to do’s off my plate or postpone them
More than ever, the world (and our clients) needs us sharing our talents and creative solutions. We can sabotage our businesses and ourselves when we allow our personal lives and inner state to rule how we are showing up.
So I’m doing my best to give myself some extra space – AND still take action on my goals. What about you? Do tell…
I’d love to hear from you.
Does how you feel and what’s happening in your personal life affect how you show up in your business?
How has your energy been this winter?
And what are you doing to still show up in your business?
